KOREA MEDICAL CHECK
You must have a medical check within Korea after you get your work visa and arrive in Korea. This must be done within 90 days and must be done in Korea at one of several designated hospitals. Your school should provide this information and a Korean co-teacher go with you.
The medical check up is the last step in order to teach English in Korea. It can take 45-60 minutes depending on where you go, and how busy it is. The first time I had a medical check up in Korea was during a public school orientation week. The process was set up in a large room where teachers went through each process of the check in single file. The results came back a few days. If done on your own, the process is done in a hospital and takes longer.
Recommended hospital:
For teachers living in BUSAN, I recommend going to "Inje University Haeundae Paik Hospital" in Jangsan area, green subway line stop 201. Please ask a Korean co-teacher to write the hospital name in Korean to show a taxi driver once you get out of the subway.
English speaking guide:
This procedure at this hospital usually has an English speaking guide to help take you through the process.
Cost:
The cost is 100 000 won at Inje University Hospital and should be the same or similar for each designated hospital.
What you need to bring:
Two passport size photos.
Your passport or (alien card for those extending their work visas).
Please note that this process should be very similar for each designated hospital. The process may also change from time to time. Please call 1345 for English immigration in Busan or ask your school for more info, such as designated hospitals in Korea or contact us below.
